How do I set up an address?

Setting up DMCN takes about two minutes. Everything that keeps your mail private is created right on your device as you go, so there is nothing on our servers that could be used to read it later.

You will create a passphrase during setup. Because only you hold it, we cannot reset it for you, so keep your recovery method somewhere safe. That is step three. We do not hold anything of the kind, which is the same property that means a breach here exposes no mail.So recovery is a second device rather than an email link. Pair your phone while you still have your laptop, and either one can restore the other.If you have exactly one device, export an encrypted backup file and keep it somewhere that is not that device. If the device is lost, the backup lets a new one ask to join your account. It can open your mail after a waiting period, a week on dmcn.email, and any device still on your account can cancel the request in that time.

1. Pick your address

Choose the name you want and the domain that suits you. Every plan lets you use dmcn.email, dmcn.me or dmcn.io.

2. Set your passphrase

Create a passphrase, or use a passkey with your face or fingerprint. This is what unlocks your keys on your device. We never see it, and it never leaves your device.

3. Save your recovery

There is no password reset that could expose your mail. Your way back in is another device you have paired, or an encrypted backup file you export from Settings.

Pair your phone and laptop, so either can let a replacement in.
Export an encrypted backup and keep it in a password manager or somewhere offline.

4. Send your first message

That is it. Compose a message to anyone, on DMCN or on an ordinary address. Between DMCN inboxes it is end-to-end encrypted; to regular email it is secured in transit across the bridge.
